Housing Matters for Wyoming
Wyoming’s Statewide Housing Needs Assessment found the state needs roughly 20,700 to 38,600 new homes by 2030.
When a community does not have enough homes, everyone feels it.
Teachers take jobs elsewhere. Nurses commute long distances. Young families give up on buying their first home. Seniors remain in houses that no longer fit their needs because there is nowhere else to go. Employers lose workers. Main streets lose energy. Kids grow up believing they will have to leave.
That is not the Wyoming future we want.
Wyoming needs more homes of different sizes and prices: starter homes, townhomes, duplexes, apartments, manufactured homes, homes for seniors, and homes close to jobs, schools, care, and community.
More home choices help people stay rooted. They help businesses hire. They help families build stability. They help communities grow without pushing farther and farther into open land.
Wyoming’s Statewide Housing Action Plan makes it clear: housing is tied to economic growth, workforce retention, local decision-making, and the ability of communities to meet their own needs.
